The Food Of Hell From Indonesia

Famous as one of the best tropical countries, Indonesia provides tons of uniqueness and excitement. Its nature, culture, and art always bring millions of tourist each year. However, this time we are going to talk about one thing, Indonesia’s cuisine, in particular Sambal.

Sambal or sambel is infamous among tourist as the food of hell for its undeniable ability to make the consumer produces tears and sweat when eating. Produ ced using chili as its main ingredient, sambal is indeed taste extremely spicy.

Sambal is made by grinding ‘cabai’ or chili, along with several complements such as onion, cherry,  tomato, ‘terasi’, sugar, and salt. The ingredients are grinded using traditional tool made usually from wood or plastic. The texture is smooth with a vibrant color of green and red, depending on which chili you use.

Infamous among tourists for its spiciness, many tourists avoid it. However, some of them are challenged and try to eat it. Those who dare to try usually will get stomach ache or turn very red and sweaty in the face. Though super spicy, locals eat it in almost daily basis as their main meal.

There are so many kind of sambal such as sambal hijau, sambal rica, sambal bajak, sambal terasi, sambal lado, sambal kecap, sambal kacang, sambal pecel, sambal bawang, and sambal mangga. We eat them with a lot of kind of foods like chicken and fish. But really, we almost eat everything with sambal.

At the risk of sounding stupid, hot sauce is, well, hot. It makes you cry, it burns your mouth, and heaven forbid you touch a chili pepper and then your eye. So we get it. Logic would follow that if something can cause you physical discomfort, it probably isn't doing your internal organs any favors. But it's true that spicy foods can benefit your health. Chilies tend to contain large amounts of vitamin A and C. These vitamins may have a slight effect at improving your immune system and helping your body fight infection.
No matter how delicious this traditional sauce is and the nutrition it does have, this has so many impact for our health. There's research that says spicy food can affect taste buds negatively. And that sauce-induced acid reflux and heartburn that we discussed—they can cause stomach pain, tooth decay, and sore throat, so hitting the bottle may not be the best habit but it's not going to end in a full gastric meltdown. Getting lost in the sauce will probably just give your friend some stomach discomfort.

I don't agree with the statement that says they use plastic as the traditional tool of making sambel. Because the truth is we usually use stone and wood as the tool. And another thing that we do not use cherry as a sambel ingredient. We use cherry tomato, but not a cherry.
